Oxford-based quartet, Glass Animals, is into the likes of Flying Lotus, Burial, Radiohead, and Animal Collective, and the psychedelic indie music they make is a creative reflection of their influencers. The four first met and started making music when they were only 14 but agreed to finish their degrees before pursuing music full-time. After going through several identities as a band, the group finally settled into Glass Animals in 2012.
To-date, the group has released an EP and a handful of singles that all highlight their ability to straddle different genres while effortlessly incorporating psychedelic elements to keep things interesting. Along with the attention to avant-garde production, enough focus is placed on melody to make their music accessible to a wide audience.
One of the first artists to be signed to Wolf Tone, the new label founded by producer Paul Epworth (who has worked with the likes of Adele, Bloc Party, and Foster the People), and with their debut album set to be released this June, Glass Animals is definitely worth taking note of right now.
