Sheffield trio Abe have a mysterious, mesmerising sound, which is showcased in their superb debut EP, Heave-Ho. They claim to “explore old and newly chartered grounds, reconstructing their multitudinous influences in their own context.” This is evident through listening to their songs, and they definitely do it well.
Abe’s sound is influenced by the likes of Kate Bush, Yeasayer and Prefab Sprout. They worked with Richard Formby on their EP, a producer who has also worked with dream pop band Wild Beasts and electronic music vocalist Ghostpoet.
They recently released an official video for “Dark & Sweet”, the third track from the Heave-Ho EP. The rest of the EP can be heard here.
Like what you hear? Catch them while you can! Abe are set to perform at Sheffield’s popular Tramlines Festival on the 25th Julyat Bungalows & Bears.
