We’re coming towards the end of May and whether it be the season of spring, lockdown restrictions, or the Premier League itself, it seems like various things are coming to a close. Despite this, we were still treated to a host of releases throughout the week and we’ve done you the pleasure of coming up with this list of some of the best tracks to drop these last few days. 1. Polo G feat. Lil Wayne – Gang Gang
This collab saw one of the biggest names of the new generation in Polo G call upon a legend of the rap scene in Lil Wayne for a hard-hitting banger. Polo displays catchy bars before slipping into some cold vocals before Lil Wayne shows why he’s still one of the best rappers on the planet with fast-flowing rhymes and a host of different flows. Polo G cements himself as one of the best new artists in the game on this track with a helpful assist from rap veteran that is Lil Wayne.
2. Karma X Kwengface – Surprise
Zone 2 have dropped another banger. This time we see 2 of the group’s most promising members in Karma and Kwengface trade bars on jumpy JMKBeatz instrumental. Karma comes through with gritty lyrics and his signature conviction on the catchy chorus and his own verse before Kwengface drops cold flows and wordplay on the second half of the track. With a grip on the drills= scene right now, Zone 2 are showing no signs of slowing down, especially with this latest stellar showing.
3. SVMI – P.O.P. (Hold It Down)
Just as summer is on the horizon, SVMI has dropped a classic summer banger. The new song sees SVMI glide over the bubbly yet mellow instrumental with soothing vocals, making for a catchy, feel-good vibe. The promising Manchester artists has teased a potential project on social media and from this latest release, it shouldn’t disappoint.
4. Lil Baby & Kirk Franklin – We Win (Space Jam: A New Legacy)
Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin has come together to drop the first song off the soundtrack for the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy. The gospel choir vocals over the instrumental make for a triumphant vibe with the momentum of the track rarely stalling. Lil Baby’s mix of bars and melodies makes for a solid outing for the Atlanta rapper.
5. ONEFOUR – Breaks & Caddy’s (Street Guide Part 02 )
Australia’s biggest drill group is back with a bang on this new track. The jumpy instrumental features a violin sample and is full of heavy 808 slides and skittering high hats making for a high tempo track. The bars and gritty lyrics are delivered with confident conviction as ONEFOUR continue to show why they are a force to be reckoned with.
6. K1 N15 and Nito NB – Free Em
K1 N15 and Nito NB join forces for this mellow yet intense drill track. The chorus is gripping with the chants of ‘Free Em’ before K1 and Nito drop cold rhyme schemes and flows. The 808 slides and piano sample in the background enhance the eerie ominous vibe that the track gives off, making for a memorable song.
7. Calboy – Ten Toes Down
Calboy continues his consistent run in 2021 with his latest release. Calboy comes through with harmonic autotuned vocals on a light yet bubbly instrumental courtesy of Cool & Dre, making for a catchy track. The lyrics see Calboy talk about staying strong and, true to the title, ‘ten does down’ through various trying situations. The Chicago hailing rapper doesn’t disappoint on this outing with the rest of 2021 looking promising.
